About
Mt. Moriah Charters of Florida
Founded by Renee Miller in 2007, Mt. Moriah Charters of Florida, INC. is a non-profit organization focused on aiding the homeless in the Big Bend Area. In 2009 alone, the Mt. Moriah Thrift Store clothed over 1000 people in need, through their well established voucher program. Though the thrift store continues to meet growing needs in the homeless community, it also plays a major role in funding Mt. Moriah’s newly opened Christian Home for Women.
While there are several programs focused on serving homeless men in Leon and the surrounding counties, there are not nearly as many programs for women. Local case managers, social workers, and ministers can attest to the fact that women and women with children are extremely neglected and under served. Since opening on Thanksgiving Day 2009, the Christian Home for Women has already helped twelve women and one child through their “30 Day Power Start Program.”
In Hebrew, Mt. Moriah means “God Provides” or “Provided by God.” With plans to expand the house capacity, MMCF waits in anticipation to see all that God will provide.
