Program

30-Day Power Start Program

MMCF’s Christian Home for Women requires all of its residents to complete a 30-Day Power Start Program. This program lasts four weeks and is designed to help the women take their first steps in the right direction. We pray that each graduate walk out with confidence, knowing that Christ has a plan and purpose for her life and that He will provide for her every need.

Week One:

Residents are expected to establish themselves as individuals in the house and community. To do this they must attend MMCF’s House Orientation, obtain an official ID and mailing address, and discover more about themselves through medical and psychological screenings. Residents also capitalize on the resources available to them in the community during this week by registering for food stamps or other food programs, becoming more familiar with public transportation options, enlisting in job placement programs, and making arrangements for their next move.

Week Two:

Residents are guided through a discovery of their worth and potential. This is achieved through sessions on Personal Goals and Spiritual Gifts as well as through the development of a Personal Profile.  These sessions require residents to analyze their future in a proactive way, better understand themselves and the choices that they make, and find hope in the gifts that they have been blessed with. They are also encouraged to take the first steps in their educational goals by applying to Tallahassee Community College and their grant program.

Week Three:
Residents are supplied with sessions on Time Management, Budgeting, Successful Relationships and Women’s Health. These last few sessions help the residents gain confidence in their abilities to carry out responsible and healthy lifestyles after leaving the home.

Week Four:

The program rounds off at week four with the residents beginning either work or school and completing their final session, called “Who Am I.”

Our program is individualized for each resident, taking into consideration each person’s unique circumstances. However, once a modified program is developed residents are expected to dedicate themselves to it completely. To aid in the completion of the program, MMCF equips each resident with a personal mentor who meets with the resident weekly and helps them achieve each week’s goals. In addition to the 30 Day Power Start Program, residents are expected to attend all scheduled house events and weekly worship services.
